Deoksugung (Deoksu Palace)
Deoksu literally means wish for longevity. The Joseon Dynasty's last sovereign, King Sunjong,
named this palace Deoksu to wish his father, King Gojong, a long life. Nearly 6,000 relics
used in the royal court during the Joseon Dynasty are exhibited here. Every afternoon, the changing
of the Royal Guard ceremony is reenacted in traditional costume at the main gate, just
as it may have occurred for hundreds of years.
